E-bike battery cases for 48 V conversion builds
Most conversion kits are 48 V, and the case question is really a question about how many cells that voltage needs in your configuration.
Who this is for: Conversion-kit sellers and shops retrofitting an existing bike to 48 V.
What this build actually constrains
48 V means 13S
A 48 V nominal pack is 13 cells in series. The parallel count is what sets the total, and that is what decides the case.
The BMS is usually the binding constraint
A 13S BMS is physically longer than the 10S one most of these moulds were designed around. Packs that 'do not fit' are usually packs where the cells fit and the BMS does not.
The controller has to go somewhere
On a conversion the controller often ends up inside the case base — check whether the housing has space for it.
What we would put on this build
- ['
- Hailong — 15 models, up to 117 cells on 18650 and 80 on 21700. ', '
- Downtube — 21 models, up to 200 cells on 18650 and 160 on 21700. ', '
- Integrated — 28 models, up to 104 cells on 18650 and 80 on 21700. ']
Water Bottle
A 13S4P is 52 cells, which is the absolute ceiling of the bottle format and leaves nothing for the BMS. Step up a format.

Questions we get about this build
What is a 13S4P pack in cells?
Why does my 48 V pack not fit a case that says it takes 52 cells?
Send us the build and we will say which format works
Frame envelope, cell type, series and parallel count is all we need. If the answer is that none of our moulds fit and it needs a new one, we will say that rather than sell you the nearest thing.
